Project

For each of these projects the clients  wished to have portraits of their animal friends painted in particular period styles.

The Work –
  • find a suitable period portrait to use for the setting and clothes
  • paint the portrait
  • age the painting with cracking and patinas

Traditional Methods

The period style portraits are painted with traditional techniques.

The structure of the painting is built up in layers as with all our paintings, and the products used are all of the finest quality.

The technique of the picture will follow, as closely as is possible, the painting which is being used for the costume and the setting.

Period Style Painting Subjects

Our period style portraits can be of people or animals.

The setting may be a copy of another painting, or we can create a new setting in a specific style. Clients can pick any period or style they wish.

Unless specified otherwise the paintings are in oil paint.

Cracks, patinas and other ageing techniques will be worked into the surface of the portraits.
